LANEWAY TERRACE - ERSKINEVILLE SYDNEY

The terrace house was tucked away in a neat row of original 1880s Victorian terrace houses in Erskineville Newtown. The terrace was a classic 2 up 2 down terrace. The house although original at the front took on a dramatic transformation at the back involving underpinning the exterior walls aswell as maximising the hidden laneway that was inside the terrace houses exterior wall. A once unusable staircase was opened up to connect the levels as well as new skylights and polished concrete floor. The materiality and colours were chosen for their raw and elegant simplicity to pair with the heritage features ensuring a contemporary space to live and entertain.
